Frequently Asked Questions

What are sock monkeys?
Sock Monkeys were first made in North America in the early 1900s.  Traditionally, they are made from Rockford Red Heeled Socks, and if you purchase a pair of these socks today you will receive instructions to make a monkey.
What are the sock monkeys made from?
Each monkey is made from a new pair of socks and filled with polyester fibre fill.
How do I care for my sock monkey?
If your monkey needs a wash, surface washing is recommended.  A very occasional gentle hand wash in cold water should be okay.  Please don't spin or tumble dry as monkeys do not like getting dizzy!
What do you mean when you say the monkeys have been safety tested?
The design and construction of the monkeys has been tested (and passed the test!) for compliance with the mandatory Australian standard for toy safety.  Please contact me if you require any further information.
